Members

Board members serve for a 3-year term.  Current Board members are:

  • Dwight Sherman (Chair), term expires 04/30/25
  • Jack Grodoski, term expires 04/30/24
  • Daniel Leonard (Secretary), term expires 04/30/23

Authority and Responsibilities

The Board of Fire and Police Commission (BOFPC) of the City of Warrenville derives its authority from the Illinois Municipal Code, Illinois Compiled Statutes, and from City of Warrenville City Code.  BOFPC responsibilities include the following:

  • To recruit, select, and appoint qualified candidates to fill vacancies for original appointment of Police Officer
  • To determine testing and selection processes that allow qualified Police Department employees to participate in the promotional process for the position of Sergeant
  • To conduct disciplinary hearings or appeals of sworn officers

The Board is not responsible for appointing the Chief of Police, a Mayoral appointment, or the position of Deputy Chief of Police, who is appointed by the Chief of Police.
