Warrenville's history is rooted in quarry mining. Prior to Cantera becoming a nationally recognized development project, it was a huge hole in the ground formed after years of mining. Warrenville has not forgotten its heritage and acknowledges it through the placement of honorary stones throughout town. These stones are used to recognize prominent Warrenville residents or mark significant historical locations or events. Visitors to Warrenville can travel throughout the town and find these markers at City Hall, the Public Library, the Veteran's Memorial, the Public Works Garage, the Police Department, Warrenville Grove, on the corner of Winfield Road and Warrenville Road, Cerny Park, Albright Studio, and many, many more locations. It's up to you to find them all!
