[ARCHIVED] Magnolia Tree

The City commits to grow 100 new trees from cuttings taken from the Magnolia tree located at the northeast corner of Route 56 and Batavia Road.

In May, the large Magnolia tree currently in bloom at the northeast corner of Route 56 and Batavia Road will be removed to accommodate the construction of the Warrenville Horizon senior housing project. The City recently executed a contract with a horticulture firm and received approval from the owner of the tree to take cuttings that will be used to grow 100 new three-foot tall offspring trees. The new trees would be returned to the City for planting and distribution in the community in the spring of 2023.
