[ARCHIVED] Police Caution of Door-to-Door Scam

Scam Alert

The Warrenville Police Department has received information from other Illinois jurisdictions that individuals claiming to be gathering information about COVID-19 are going door-to-door. This is most likely a SCAM to enter into a home to commit a criminal act or to obtain personal identifying information to commit a financial crime. The Police Department cautions you to not allow anyone you do not know into your home, and urges you to call 9-1-1 if someone comes to your door claiming to be gathering COVID-19 information.

In addition, please be aware that the majority of all Google and Apple “Apps” involving COVID-19 are infected and leave the unsuspecting user vulnerable to a scam.
