[ARCHIVED] 2023 City Survey: What Residents Think About Warrenville

2023 Community Survey results

The 2023 community survey results are here! We received more than 500 responses, and we thank everyone who took the time to participate. Your responses help make the City a better place to live.

The survey - sent out in March and April - asked you what you think about life in Warrenville. We asked about:

  • Quality of life
  • Housing
  • Traffic
  • Crime
  • Economic development
  • The environment
  • Transportation
  • And more 

Survey process: A random sample of residents received a postcard, followed by a letter, so they could complete the survey online or by mail. We received 448 surveys. The City also shared an online only link with the entire community, and another 151 residents filled out a survey.

What's next: The survey helps the City identify issues important to our community. The results will help the City:

  • Make budget decisions
  • Set strategic planning goals
  • Improve communication with residents
  • And more

Key findings:

  • 91% rate Warrenville as an excellent or good place to live
  • 86% rate the overall quality of life in the City as excellent or good
  • 92% say Warrenville is a good place to raise children
  • 85% view Warrenville as a welcoming place
  • 75% of you voted in the most recent local election
  • Over 8 in 10 residents rate the quality of City services as excellent or good
  • 87% say they receive good customer service from City staff

City trends:

About 7 in 10 residents give positive ratings for the City’s overall direction, and feel the City:

  • Is open and transparent to the public
  • Welcomes resident involvement
  • Informs residents about issues facing the community

Issues you want the City to focus on for the following two years:

  • Overall quality of the utility infrastructure
  • Overall economic health
  • Overall feeling of safety
  • Overall quality of natural environment
  • Overall design or layout of residential and commercial areas 

You want City priorities that will:

  • Advance economic development initiatives focused on attracting new business
  • Invest in additional sidewalk, path, and trail connections throughout the City
  • Develop a crime free housing program for rental properties
  • Start new environmental sustainability initiatives
  • Expand police resources to include social services partnerships
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive community
  • Ensure Warrenville continues to have a mix of housing types to meet evolving community preferences

You feel the City should address climate change, and:

  • Protect natural habitats, open spaces, and marsh lands
  • Reduce waste via composting, recycling, etc.  
  • Conserve water
  • Upgrade roads, utilities, and other infrastructure

Only 37% support increased taxes, fees, or other funding sources to help mitigate future climate-related risks.
