The City of Warrenville is excited to announce that it has been selected to compete in the 10th Annual Strongest Town Contest—a national competition recognizing communities that are taking smart steps to build a stronger, more resilient future.
The contest, hosted by Strong Towns, highlights cities and towns that are actively working to address transportation, housing, and financial challenges through strategic planning and innovative policies. Warrenville is among 16 North American cities in this bracket-style competition, and we need your vote to advance!
How the Contest Works
The Strongest Town Contest follows a five-round voting process, with the winner determined by public votes:
- Round 1: Meet Your Contestants (March 3–6) – Honorary recognition round
- Round 2: Sweet Sixteen (March 10–13) – Bracket-style voting begins
- Round 3: Elite Eight (March 17–20)
- Round 4: Final Four (March 24–27)
- Round 5: Championship (March 31–April 3)
Voting takes place Monday through Thursday each week, and winners are announced on Fridays. Community members can vote once per round to help Warrenville move forward in the competition.
Why Warrenville?
Warrenville is being recognized in the contest for its efforts in “Right-Sizing Parking Policy.” As a landlocked community, Warrenville saw an opportunity to promote growth and development without expanding outward by revising its minimum parking regulations. The City reduced parking requirements for businesses and mixed-use developments, encouraging better land use, infill development, and a more walkable, community-friendly environment.
