[ARCHIVED] Help the Environment: Find Alternatives to Single-Use Plastic

Of the more than 300 million tons of plastic produced every year, at least 14 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean.

We can make a difference by changing our habits:

  • choose products packaged in glass, metal, paper, or other more natural materials

Alternatives to single-use plastic include:

  • cloth, mesh, or canvas bags

and reusable versions of:

  • water bottles
  • sandwich bags
  • straws
  • and more

The Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC) acts as a resource and advocate to City Council and the community by sharing educational and informational programs and materials that promote environmental awareness and behavior.
