Over the past year, City staff, elected officials, and volunteers took part in special training to better understand neurodiversity and how we can support people with Autism in our community.
Thanks to a great partnership with Little Friends, a Warrenville-based organization, we’re now officially recognized as an Autism Friendly City!
We’ve also teamed up with our community partners — the Warrenville Public Library, Warrenville Park District, and Warrenville Fire Protection District — to make sure their teams are ready to provide support too. That includes things like:
- Sensory bags at the Library
- Quiet, welcoming spaces at public events
- Training for first responders to help during emergencies
- Internships and job training for neurodiverse individuals
Look for special activities this spring, like an Autism Friendly space at our Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, April 26! When you see this logo, you'll know the event will have space and activities for neurodiverse individuals:
We’re proud to work together to make Warrenville more inclusive for everyone.
