WELCOME TO FYI WARRENVILLE

TGIF. It's time for the City's weekly recap to help us stay better connected, informed, and prepared.

Let's begin…

Warrenville Becomes An Autism Friendly City

Over the past year, City staff, elected officials, and volunteers took part in special training to better understand neurodiversity and how we can support people with autism in our community.

Thanks to a great partnership with Little Friends, a Warrenville-based organization, we’re now officially recognized as an Autism Friendly City!

We’ve also teamed up with our community partners — the Warrenville Public Library District, Warrenville Park District, and Warrenville Fire Protection District — to make sure their teams are ready to provide support too. That includes things like:

🔹 Sensory bags at the library

🔹 Quiet, welcoming spaces at public events

🔹 Training for first responders to help during emergencies

🔹 Internships and job training for neurodiverse individuals

💡 Look for special activities this spring, like an Autism Friendly space at our Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, April 26!

We’re proud to work together to make Warrenville more inclusive for everyone.

Text 911 Service Launches in DuPage County

🚨 Did you know you can now text 9-1-1 in an emergency? Texting is a helpful option if you are unable to speak due to a medical issue or if it’s not safe to make a voice call.

Here’s how to Text 9-1-1:

📍 Start with your exact location.

🚓 Say what help you need: police, fire, or ambulance.

📝 Use short, clear messages. No emojis, photos, or slang.

✋ Stay calm and follow the dispatcher’s instructions.

Only use Text-to-911 for real emergencies. Misuse is against the law.

✅ Most major carriers support this feature, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile/Sprint, and Dish Wireless.
