Cerny Park Public Input Meeting October 5 

* Review the design options and vote for your favorite playground. 

* Saturday, October 5, 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Cerny Park, 4S150 River Road.

* Warrenville Park District will also have the playground options available to review in the lower lobby of the Recreation Center, 3S260 Warren Avenue, from Monday, October 7 through Friday, October 11.

* The City's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Awareness Commission (IDEC) honors federally recognized heritage and history months throughout the year as part of our commitment to building an inclusive community that values diversity. 

* In October, we recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day on October 14, which celebrates the invaluable contributions and resilience of Indigenous peoples, recognizes their inherent sovereignty, and commits to honoring the Federal Government’s trust and treaty obligations to Tribal Nations.

* In October we also celebrate:

• German-American Heritage Month

• Filipino-American Heritage Month 

• Italian-American Heritage Month 

• Polish-American Heritage Month 

* IDEC welcomes feedback, ideas, and suggestions to further the mission of inclusivity and respect for all in Warrenville. Submit comments to: idec@warrenville.il.us.

Fall Brush Pickup Schedule

* Brush pickup continues! Check below for your zone and date. 

October pickup dates:

Zone 1 - Monday, October 7

Zone 2 - Monday, October 14

Zone 3 - Monday, October 21

Zone 4 - Monday, October 28

Please observe the following guidelines for staff safety:

  • All brush must be bundled securely with twine, not wire.
  • Bundles must not exceed 50 pounds.
  • Put out pile prior to 7:00 a.m. on the day of pickup.
  • Limit to one pile of trimmed brush per address.
  • No logs, lumber, yard waste, thorns, or root-balls.
  • Pile size cannot exceed the following dimensions: 3 feet high, 8 feet wide, and 15 feet long.       
  • Branches do NOT exceed 8 inches in diameter. 
  • Branches do NOT exceed 8 feet in length.
  • All brush under 2 feet long is considered yard waste and should be placed in yard waste bags with a yard waste sticker to be picked up by the City's contracted garbage company on your designated garbage day.
  • Place cut ends extended toward the street. If piles are not prepared with all cut ends toward the road, the pile will not be picked up.
  • Brush placed in plastic bags or other containers will not be picked up by the City.
  • If the brush does not comply with these guidelines, you will receive a notice, and the pile will not be picked up.
  • Once the pile complies with the guidelines, contact the Public Works Department and the pile will be picked up.

Cemetery Walk is October 20

* Join Warrenville Historical Society's 17th Annual Cemetery Walk at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20 at Warrenville Cemetery on Warrenville Road between Warren and Curtiss Avenues. 

* Parking is available at Trinity Lutheran Church on Curtis Avenue. 

* This year’s event will feature stories related to the Historical Society's building, the former Methodist Church turned Albright Studio & Art Gallery.

* Tours leave every 15 minutes. The last tour leaves at 7:15 p.m.

* For anyone who wants to see the presentation, but does not feel comfortable walking through the uneven Cemetery, you can watch the presentation at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3S460 Curtis Avenue.

Save the Date for the SCARCE Household Repair Fair 

* The event is 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26 at 800 S. Rohlwing Road, Addison. Free admission.

* Experts will be available to perform simple repairs on household items such as:

• jewelry

• glass/crystal

• kitchen knife and scissor sharpening

• lamp and light fixture repair and rewiring

• and more
