Back to School Rules

* The new school year begins Wednesday, August 14.

* School Zones are in effect Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. 

* The speed limit in all school zones on school days when children are present is 20 m.p.h. 

* When in school zones:

  • Don't use cell phones.
  • Follow the crossing guard's instructions.
  • Stop for loading and unloading school buses.
  • Protect the safety of all children...slow down, allow extra time for travel, and avoid distracted driving!

DU-COMM is Hiring!

* DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM) is a 9-1-1 center that serves 45 Police and Fire/EMS agencies. 

* They seek qualified applicants to join their team to play a critical role in the emergency response for the communities that they serve.

* Openings:

  • 9-1-1 Telecommunicators
  • Operations Managers
  • Quality Assurance Manager
  • Radio Technician

Last Call to Sign Up for the Citizen Police Academy 

* Learn how the Warrenville Police Department operates.

* Register by August 17. 

* The next Academy will be 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, September 11 through November 13:

* Topics include:

  • The Patrol Division's work
  • A drone demonstration
  • Police defensive tactics
  • Off-site tours of the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA) and the DU-COMM 9-1-1 facility
  • Open to residents 18 and over, and Warrenville business owners and their employees.

National Water Quality Month

* Here are small steps we can take to protect our water supply:

* Use regular soap and water instead of antibacterial soaps or cleaning products. 

* Recycle prescription drugs at the Police Department. 

* Keep storm drains clear of debris. 

* Fix leaks that drop from cars and put liners in driveways to collect oil and other materials. 

* Choose nontoxic household products when possible. 

* Pick up after pets.
