National Crime Prevention Month Tip

When it comes to locking your car, everyday life can lead to momentary distractions that can end up being costly. Cars not only get broken into, they get stolen.

Reduce your risk by removing valuables from your car and locking it.

These two simple steps can help deter that in-the-moment car burglar or thief. Here are a few ideas that may help you to remember:

• Set a daily reminder on your cellphone
• Use another daily routine to trigger you: feeding a pet, taking your dog for an evening walk, starting the dishwasher, when a nightly TV program begins or ends, brushing your teeth, when outside lights go on, or by leaving a note on your nightstand and/or refrigerator
