Governor Proposes Cutting Local Revenue

The Governor recently proposed cutting the Local Government Distributed Fund (LGDF) in half, from 8% to 4%, which means Warrenville would lose about $650,000 in its general fund and the City Council then would have tough decisions to make on cutting services, programs, and personnel.

LGDF is primarily income tax money that is shared on a per capita basis with local governments; this is your tax money being shared for local services! Over the years, LGDF has been a subject of discussion by state legislators from both parties in both chambers and in the Governor’s office. Discussions have ranged from reducing the amount of funds shared with municipalities to eliminating it entirely, and any change would be detrimental to the City as well as to the County.

To avoid such a drastic cut in revenue, it is important that state elected officials hear from all constituents to understand the impact of losing this revenue. Please contact Warrenville’s state legislators directly at their district office by phone, letter, email, or by a combination of all the options. Their contact information is below. Additional information about LGDF can be found at this link: or the link below. A simple and easy way to contact your legislator is by visiting the site: Protect My Town at
